The Holy Well of Santa Cristina: astronomical observatory or votive well?

The Sacred wells are scattered throughout the territory of Sardinia, and those currently known and surveyed are more than fifty.
One of the best preserved is the Sacred Well of Santa Cristina.
The sacred well, whose construction can be placed around the eleventh century BC is enclosed by a teamenos, an elliptical enclosure that separates the sacred area from the profane area, which surrounds another in the form of a “lock”, inside which the well is located.
During the Spring and Autumn equinox, one can observe the phenomenon of aligning the sun with the descent scale to the well.
The priest who descends, thanks to a game of reflection with water, can see his shadow reflected upside down on the back wall.

According to the theory of Arnold Lebeuf , the sanctuary of Santa Cristina may have also been a place of observation and astronomical analysis; in fact during the Lunistice the Moon is reflected on the bottom of the well, illuminating it; this happens every 18 and a half years.
The last time was in 2006.
But the surprises on the sacred well do not end here!
A careful analysis was carried out and the energy levels were diagrammatically changed as the stairway descended, until it came into contact with water. Following what was affirmed by Mario Aresu and Lello Fadda, on the first step, 2,000 Bovis were detected. The level rises as the descent progresses, up to 7,800 Bovis at the tenth step. Going down again you get to the twenty-fourth step with 34,000 Bovis and to contact with water you reach 410,000 Bovis.
These energy levels suggest that the descent to the water represented a real path of initiation or in any case a path of discharge and recharge of energy for those who descended to the well and immersed themselves in its waters.
This is why every year the sacred well is a destination for true pilgrimages by people who seek a kind of purification of mind and body or who simply try to unveil the mystery that lies behind this place: what was it for? What rituals were they performed?
